Power Plate has become a hit in female-owned fitness studios of all types, thanks to its versatility, effectiveness and ease of use

Power Plate, the world’s leader in vibration technology, knows a thing or two about “versatility.” The brand’s iconic whole body vibration platforms are widely known for their wide range of benefits, regardless if they’re being used for warm up, workout, recovery or therapy applications.

Once a user steps on a Power Plate, its patented, tri-planar PrecisionWave™ technology causes the body to reflexively respond to tiny vibrations which activates muscles, burns calories, improves circulation and helps speed muscle recovery. Members simply perform exercises – that are typically done on the floor, standing, leaning or sitting – on the Power Plate instead to reap the benefits of vibration.

However, the “who” for Power Plate is just as versatile as the “how.”

Reaching More Women With Group Fitness

“If you look at industry statistics, group exercise participation is skewed very heavily towards women,” said Garry Lewis, Director of Commercial Sales at Power Plate. “Whether it’s Pilates, yoga, suspension training or another format, females make up somewhere around 80% of all group exercise participants.”

“The extreme versatility of Power Plate allows operators to offer a variety of classes” Lewis adds. “And once you start to use it, people realize how easy and enjoyable it is to use Power Plate. This makes it easy to teach and ensures your members will leave class feeling great. It’s a perfect complement to virtually any other therapy or fitness modality.”

Power Plate’s flexibility also extends to strength training which is a recent trend experiencing a noticeable surge in popularity among women, especially with those 55 years or older.

“Once people discover the difference with Power Plate they quickly realize how it complements every aspect of their training”, says Lewis.

A Complete Solution for Studio Owners

“Power Plate offers extreme versatility and programming options,” Rachel Blumberg, founder of PLATEFIT, stated. “We offer a 27-minute Power Plate class to our members in a variety of different workout formats – including boot camp, dance, ballet, boxing, kickboxing, sport, yoga stretch, and more.”

“Using Power Plate has allowed us to find a point of difference compared with traditional boutique fitness businesses,” adds Donna Cyrus, former SVP of Programming for Crunch Fitness and co-founder of Vibez Fit, a Chicago-based Power Plate studio. “Vibration adds a whole new dimension to the strength, barre/Pilates, boxing and HIIT classes we offer. Power Plate has allowed us to become very creative.”

Other Operators agree, including Allison Beardsley, founder of Club Pilates and current Co-Steward of Red Light Method

“Power Plate’s versatility and effectiveness have been a game-changer for Red Light Method, and we’re proud to partner with the industry leader,” she said. “Power Plate’s superior quality made it the clear choice for our treatment protocol, ensuring unparalleled results for our members. With Power Plate, they experience even greater benefits than those seen in the clinical trials.”

Sara Dant, Owner of Fit For You Naples, added, “At Fit For You Naples, our mission is to lead with personalized fitness solutions that meet the individual where they are. Power Plate has allowed us to elevate this personalized approach, offering a versatile and effective tool that adapts to various fitness methodologies. It exemplifies our leadership in creating innovative, tailored fitness experiences that drive results.”

Programming & Marketing Support

Power Plate’s support goes beyond just providing hardware. The brand recently established a programming support initiative for new businesses looking to get started with its equipment. This makes Power Plate products very easy to adopt.

“We don’t want our customers to reinvent the wheel if they don’t have to,” said Lewis. “Power Plate provides group training class templates to operators for them to customize to meet the needs of their business and member base. Putting programs together can be challenging, time-consuming and expensive. But by having that program support there, it takes another thing off their list.”

The programming support makes Power Plate a personable tool as well, meeting operator needs high and low. Angelique Gorges, founder and owner of Vibe 28, attests to that.

“Power Plate perfectly complements Vibe 28’s mission to provide innovative, customizable wellness experiences,” she said. “It’s more than a machine; it’s a catalyst for unlocking members’ full potential and creating a vibrant community.”

“If they need marketing support, too, we’ve got this wonderful portal from which operators can access hundreds of videos, images, and other assets to help with their marketing efforts” Lewis adds.

The wellness brand’s HaloRestore & Recovery line merges salt therapy with modalities like red light, boosting the benefits of each

Halotherapy Solutions is going where no health and wellness solution has gone before.

Looking to give operators the chance to offer a more holistic approach to therapy and recovery, the company recently launched its HaloRestore & Recovery solution. It’s the first and only series of programs merging salt therapy with the company’s complete portfolio of RESTORE and RECOVERY equipment, including red light, cryotherapy and cold plunge.

The solution features Fire & Ice, Vitality Restore, Revive & Rejuvenate and Hyper Restore packages. All carry devices such as the Spectrum Elite Bed, HaloIR & Redlight Tower, Cryo T Cooler, Health Smart Massage Chair and the CyroMed One, just to name a few. Some also include the newly patented Vitality Booth Plus, the world’s first and only multi-function chamber combining salt and red light therapy.

Meeting Consumer Demands

These steps to establish HaloRestore & Recovery, trailblazing as they are, were requested by the health and wellness industry both from an evolutionary and cost-saving standpoint.

Lisa Semerly, Halotherapy CRO and creator of the program, did so to give users more advanced recovery options and operators more functionality in their limited spaces.

“I have been in the Halotherapy space for about a decade and have seen a shift throughout the years,” Semerly said. “The industry has moved into ‘next generation’ salt therapy, stacking or layering multiple modalities together in one unit to customize the guest’s experience while at the same time maximizing the return on investment per square foot for the facility owner. Taking that one step further, and keeping pace with the current environment, HaloRestore & Recovery was conceived last year.”

Lisa Semerly (credit: Halotherapy Solutions)

Rarely are gyms given the chance to add a solution that assists such a large percentage of their members. According to Semerly, one in every three athletes experiences some form of exercise-induced bronchoconstriction or exercise-induced asthma. It’s almost impossible for anyone to achieve their fitness goals under such circumstances.

“If your respiratory system is rundown, or under attack and you can’t breathe, your workouts are going to be less effective,” Semerly said. “Salt therapy alone expands the airway for increased lung function, and increased oxygen saturation. It helps with muscle endurance and strengthens the abdominal wall for increased lung capacity and oxygenation.”

This is accomplished as users breathe in kinetically active, microscopic pharmaceutical-grade salt. The salt draws out moisture, mucus, and impurities which kills anything in the airway or skin to alleviate inflammation. This, according to Halotherapy, is the only way to address respiratory health and wellness naturally. It also triggers skin microcirculation and membrane activity.

The salt therapy is “stacked on” other modalities, such as red light therapy, as seen with the Vitality Booth Plus.

The Benefits of Salt Therapy x Red Light

Red light and salt therapy are a match made in heaven — Halotherapy is harnessing their coefficient benefits with the Vitality Booth Plus, making it a potent user engagement tool for gyms or wellness facilities that results in a cycle of wellness.

“What makes the Vitality Booth Plus so effective and unique is the science,” Semerly said. “The inspiration behind it came from one of our partners and salt therapy enthusiasts who owned a World Gym. He was looking for a game changer in the fitness space to include red light and salt therapy and understood that red light in the presence of salt crystals creates a far more effective experience for both.”

credit: Halotherapy Solutions

After conducting research with NASA, the Halotherapy team discovered that adding salt therapy to red light therapy creates microbursts of red-light energy by the billions, as they refract off translucent salt crystals. This results in a greater red-light immersion that encapsulates the skin. Simultaneously, the salt therapy becomes more effective, as the red light energizes and dries the salt which results in deeper penetration and expansion into the lungs.

“In a nutshell, the Vitality Booth Plus not only helps with recovery and respiration, but it addresses skin health by a dual-modal mechanism of action,” Semerly said. “This makes it the most effective red-light therapy and salt therapy in the world.”

The blending of salt and red light therapy assists in anti-aging, wrinkle reduction, weight loss and mood enhancement as well. The booth comes in four different sizes and with a U.V. blue light sanitation system. It was recently issued a “patent” on the effectiveness of red light therapy with salt therapy, making it the most powerful red light therapy in the world.

The Bright Future of Recovery

Semerly only expects demand for Halotherapy’s RESTORE & RECOVERY products to increase as education around recovery does. As it did with many aspects of the health and wellness industry, the COVID-19 pandemic has already played a large role in that.

“We learned a lot in a post-COVID world,” Semerly noted. “More and more folks are taking self-care much more seriously. Those who take health and fitness seriously have realized that without a true recovery component, burnout, injury, and less effective workouts are inevitable.”

Salt therapy is “one of the top modalities folks are seeking post-COVID,” Semerly added. “Halotherapy will continue to be part of the conversation in the fitness community well into the future,” she said.

The 305 is a hot market for longevity services, with Next Health teaming up with an orthopedic surgeon to open four clinics in South Florida

A white-glove longevity center is opening four locations in Miami as consumers continue integrating non-invasive wellness therapies to look and feel vibrant.

Next Health, with a menu of services including NAD therapy, IV therapy, cryotherapy, infrared therapy, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, hormone optimization, ozone therapy and aesthetics, is expected to open its first center in the city later this year. The wellness concept has also entered into a multi-unit area development agreement with Dr. Thomas Philips, a board-certified orthopedic surgeon.

“Collaborating with Dr. Philips has not only been an absolute pleasure but also a testament to our shared commitment in succeeding on the mission of Next Health,” said Scott Svilich, chief operating officer of Next Health. “We have complete confidence in his expertise and dedication to our vision.”

The longevity franchise has existing clinics in California, Hawaii, and New York City, with plans to open in Tennessee and Dubai.

Next Health founders Dr. Darshan Shah, CEO, and president Kevin Peake noted that they are excited to settle into the health and wellness-focused Miami, bringing longevity services to a broader audience. They founded Next Health in 2016 and are now offering franchising opportunities

“Our Miami community recognizes the growing demand for diagnostic and preventative health solutions, and we’re excited to unveil our best-in-class approach and cutting-edge technologies, heralding a new era in wellness and longevity,” they said in a joint statement. “Having witnessed transformative results in the U.S., we are devoted to aiding individuals in achieving optimal health and well-being, and we are confident that our expansion into Miami will bring about remarkable changes in the lives of many.”

Franchise partner requirements include $600,000 in liquid capital with $1.5 million in net worth.

Wellness franchises like Next Health continue to expand nationwide as consumers increasingly embrace longevity, anti-aging and recovery treatments. Restore Hyper Wellness, Perspire Sauna Studio and SweatHouz have all inked recent expansion deals and are actively looking to add more locations in the U.S.

The light therapy device promises to relieve joint pain, reduce inflammation and stimulate healing, but is it worth the price tag?

Kineon is a technology company focused on bringing the benefits of light therapy to consumers’ homes. Founded in 2019 by Forrest Smith and Tom Sanderson, Kineon’s Move+ Pro launched on Indiegogo in October 2021 after a couple years of designing and prototyping. On the crowdfunding site, Kineon raised over $1 million, shipping over 10,000 units in around 9 months.

The Move+ Pro promises to help reduce chronic pain in as little as five minutes. Unlike many red light therapy devices, the Move+ Pro uses lasers to penetrate deeper into joints.

Right light therapy works by stimulating blood flow and energy production in the targeted area’s cells, reducing pain and inflammation. Medical research is growing in the field, looking into the efficacy of using red light for different ailments. To date, many of the studies have limited sample sizes or animal subjects, but many more are underway to explore red light’s possible benefits.

Athletech News put the Move+Pro to the test to see how the device works, and if it’s a good choice for your recovery needs.

Pros

Most red light therapy devices only use LED light, whereas the Move+ Pro leverages medical-grade laser technology with traditional LED lights to improve the light’s penetration depth. The depth of such penetration is around 5-6mm, while standard LED panels are only around 2mm. It also uses pulse wave technology, or short pulses of light at a high energy level, instead of the more common constant wave technology.

Set up with the Move+ Pro was easy with its modular design. Each of its light modules must be charged and then can be attached to adjustable elastic straps that form a circle. The wavelengths of the LEDs were impressive, with eight 650 nanometers of deep red LEDs per module and ten 808 nanometer infrared lasers per module.

For injuries around smaller areas like knees or elbows, the device is fairly portable and can be secured with its Velcro straps. In addition, Bluetooth connectivity between the light modules allows users to press one on, and the other two follow, activating the entire device.

credit: Kineon

Cons

The biggest downside of the Move+ Pro is its high price tag, at $499.00. Another is its limited sizing. Its circumference is perfect for knees, shoulders, or feet, but when I wanted to use it on my lower back, I had to maneuver the device so my back rested on it but could not move around. The Velcro straps also lack enough customizability for all body types and areas of the body. For injuries to smaller areas like ankles, knees or feet, the device could work well, but might not be as easy to use for the thighs, back or upper back. Kineon does offer extender straps for $45.

The Move+ Pro also lacks a companion app for guided use, which has become more common with recovery products. While its use is usually simple, an app could be a nice upgrade for the product, particularly for more complicated injuries.

Final Thoughts

The Kineon Move+ Pro offers a risk-free, 3o-day at-home trial, which might be ideal for those considering the purchase. Overall, the device is fairly portable and easy to use and could be a good solution for someone looking to try out red light therapy for pain reduction.

Recovery, stress management and sleep quality were top of mind for Whoop wearers in 2023. Those habits seem likely to persist into next year

Whoop has released its highly anticipated “Year in Review,” reflecting on its community’s achievements this past year and offering a data-driven look into the top health and fitness trends of 2023. With insights on sleep, strain, recovery, and stress, Whoop provided innovative technologies that empowered its members to unlock new insights.

Athletech News breaks down some of the key findings from Whoop’s 2023 Year in Review:

Recovery Takes Many Forms

There were interesting highlights among Whoop users with alcohol consumption in 2023. There was a notable decrease in alcohol consumption among Whoop members but when they indulged, users consumed more, with an average of three drinks per sitting. Ice baths and red light therapy also emerged as recovery superstars, gaining popularity for their ability to alleviate muscle soreness and increase melatonin production, respectively.

Whoop’s data showcased that even minor behavioral changes had substantial impacts on overall well-being. Strong sleep performance, caffeine consumption, and consistent wake times were identified as beneficial recovery practices, while alcohol intake, fever, and excessive strain were observed to hinder recovery.

A surprising revelation linked sexual activity to recovery, with endorphin and oxytocin release contributing to stress reduction and improved recovery scores. The report even highlighted the countries and U.S. states where Whoop members engaged in the most sexual activity. The U.S., Australia, Canada, Denmark and the Netherlands were the countries with the most sexual activity. Within the U.S., the states with the most sexual activity were Utah, Oklahoma, Alabama, Idaho and Nevada.

Stress Management Is Top of Mind

Stress management also took a front seat in 2023, with Whoop members leveraging modalities like breathwork and meditation to counter the negative impact of stress on recovery. By monitoring key indicators such as resting heart rate (RHR) and heart rate variability (HRV), Whoop helps individuals understand and manage stress more effectively.

credit: Whoop

Sleep Quality Over Quantity

Whoop members didn’t necessarily sleep more in 2023, but they discovered ways to improve sleep quality. Over half of the members sought individualized recommendations from AI tool Whoop Coach to enhance their sleep quality. Exposure to morning sunlight and practicing daylight eating (consuming all meals during daylight hours) were linked to higher sleep consistency and improved sleep duration. When members got morning sunlight, their sleep consistency was higher and they averaged an additional 14 minutes of sleep per week. Whoop released fascinating data about bedtimes and wakeup times by country: the earliest bedtime was 10:46 pm in Australia, and the latest was 1:50 am in Qatar. The earliest wakeup was in South Africa at 6:40 am, and the latest was also in Qatar, at 9:38 am.

More Notable Trends

The report delved into optimizing fitness beyond conventional gym activities. Proper nutrition, including a surge in vegetarian, vegan, and kosher diets among the top 1% of Strain earners, played a pivotal role. On average, those members were 45 years old. The use of creatine and increased protein consumption were also notable trends for supplement intake.

Multipurpose activities gained popularity, with rucking and recreational sports such as pickleball, soccer, cricket, rugby, and paddle tennis becoming favorites among Whoop members. Stage performance saw a 19% increase, showcasing a rising trend among non-athletes using Whoop to enhance their well-being. One such performer is DJ Zedd, who uses Whoop for healthier habits.

Beem plans to light up NY, NJ and PA in 2024 with its infrared and red-light therapies. The brand aims to open 100 locations by 2025

Beem Light Sauna, a holistic light therapy studio franchise, has announced that a group of new franchise partners are opening 12 sauna studios throughout Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York — and says the northeastern region is the ideal area, as it receives less daylight during the winter months.

The light therapy franchise currently has four locations open (in the Southeast) and 200 in development. Beem Light Sauna hopes to have 100 locations open by 2025 and is seeking multi-unit franchise partners.

Beem studios offer infrared, red-light therapies and chromotherapy, which proponents say relieves pain, boosts metabolism, reduces stress and anxiety and lowers cortisol. The light therapy brand also uses Luumi, an AI assistant, to educate clients on the benefits of Beem’s therapies and suggest custom plans. Beem’s light sauna sessions are 40 minutes long and clients can opt for a relaxing solo experience or partake in a larger ‘social sauna’ with a friend. Saunas also offer entertainment options to watch TV or listen to music on Pandora.

The light therapy studio franchise has welcomed a new partner in its expansion plans to open studio locations in the greater Philadelphia area next year. Another existing franchisee will open new Beem Light Sauna locations in the City of Brotherly Love in the first half of 2024.

As for expanding its footprint in New Jersey, a new Beem franchisee plans to open studio locations in Florham Park during the first half of next year. New Jersey shows great promise, with Beem noting that it is one of the top ten states for health and wellness.

In New York, Beem locations will open in Brooklyn in mid-2024 under the direction of another recent franchisee. Further north, two franchise partners plan to open locations in Saratoga Springs, a city known for its “health, history and horses” motto.

Expanding into the northeast demonstrates Beem’s commitment to spreading holistic light therapy benefits, says Cynthia May, president of Beem Light Sauna. May co-founded Beem in 2021 along with Roger Martin, the brand’s CEO, after discovering the lack of light therapy studios as she looked for a way to treat her daughter’s Lyme disease symptoms.

“We are thrilled to partner with our dedicated franchisees as we embark on this exciting venture,” May added. “I’m overjoyed as we continue on our mission towards bringing the healing power of light to even more communities throughout the country.”

Fitness entrepreneur Allison Beardsley believes her new red light therapy gym concept can become even bigger than Club Pilates

Club Pilates founder Allison Beardsley has embarked on a new adventure, opening a second fitness brand, Red Lite Gym.

The new boutique fitness concept, launched in Bentonville, Arkansas, will celebrate its one-year anniversary this August. The red light fitness therapy business has been such a hit in the Natural State that Beardsley confirms she will file franchise documents later this summer.

The fitness entrepreneur predicts the concept will rock the San Diego market, where Beardsley launched Club Pilates, her first fitness franchise brand.

According to Beardsley, Red Lite Gym serves an even wider demographic than Club Pilates.

“What is so beautiful is we can help people who you would never observe in a Pilates Reformer class or Pure Barre or Orange Theory,” she said.

The fitness business owner believes Red Lite Gym will become the largest fitness franchise concept in the world after consumers experience the benefits of red light therapy, especially when combined with exercise.

She compares the excitement to her first venture into fitness franchising.

“People did not know what Pilates was back when I started Club Pilates, and Red Lite Gym is basically in the same situation,” Beardsley said. “I feel like I am in my 20s again, and I am in my 40s—it is thanks to red light therapy. Red light is literally the fountain of youth discovered!”

The fitness founder says Red Lite Gym uses the only FDA-cleared, class 2 medical body wrap device in the U.S. and it is clinically proven to help lose inches, reduce pain and increase blood flow.

“Not all red-light devices are the same, and if you intend to serve millions of people and franchise, and make claims like, inches loss and reduced pain, then you have to use a legit device that has proven efficacy or else you are violating lots of federal regulations,” she explained.

After she sold Club Pilates, she didn’t anticipate opening another brick-and-mortar fitness business but felt compelled to after seeing the results of red light therapy.

Beardsley shared the benefits of red light therapy, telling Athletech News that she discovered the method in her forties for her skin, but she also found other health perks.

“I’m all natural in my beauty so red light was a natural progression for me. I have had great results with my skin,” she said. “Then in the fall of 2021, I was getting over long Covid and the fatigue was terrible. Within a few weeks of whole-body red light therapy, I felt like I was in my twenties again! I also lost 11 pounds in two weeks and started sleeping like a baby which is a huge deal.”

Each session at Red Lite Gym includes a red light therapy sculpting, 5 – 10 minutes on vibration plates and a 10 – 30 minute training where guests can engage in strength, cardio or functional training.

Red Lite Gym has monthly memberships starting at $69.

SweatHouz members will soon find Hyperice’s recovery products in all locations

The importance of taking time to recover and recharge is rising as more people continue to prioritize their health and fitness. In order to live well, you must recover well, SweatHouz says, and it’s soon rolling out a SweatHouz Recovery Room by Hyperice in all locations.

The new partnership has recently been forged between the innovative infrared sauna studio concept and Hyperice, a global wellness brand that uses innovative technology for recovery, mobility, and improved performance of muscles and joints.

The Hyperice brand has enjoyed a slew of notable investors, including Patrick Mahomes.

Sweathouz sauna space

While SweatHouz currently offers a wellness experience that includes an infrared sauna, cold plunge, redlight therapy, and hydromassage, its members will now find four of Hyperice’s recovery products as additional studio therapies.

Core, Hyperice’s immersive meditation experience, Normatec, dynamic air compression for quicker recovery, Hypervolt, a portable massager, and Venom, a heat and massage therapy system will all now be integrated into the fold at Sweathouz locations. Normatec is a recent addition to the Hyperice line-up, providing an air massage to the calf muscles as it increases circulation and reduces pain and tension in the leg.

SweatHouz, which launched in 2019 and has locations in Georgia, Massachusetts, Oregon, South Carolina, and Texas, is owned by Legacy Franchise Concepts.

“Our growing member base now has access to the same tools as the best athletes in the world,” said Jamie Weeks, founder and CEO of SweatHouz. “Hyperice is a natural choice for us and we’re proud to work alongside their team to deliver innovative evidence-based technology for the recovery, mobility and improved performance of our members.”

SweatHouz’s chief science officer, Dr. Rachelle Reed, collaborated with the Hyperice team to develop protocols for integrating therapies into SweatHouz’s studios to improve the member experience – not just for pro athletes, but also for the average fitness enthusiast.

Earlier this year, Hyperice also joined forces with human performance brand WHOOP to better educate fitness fans about the value of recovery to their overall health and performance and has pushed into the tourism industry with a Westin Hotels & Resorts partnership. The deal offers the Normatec Go, Hypervolt Go 2, and Hypersphere Mini to hotel guests as part of its Gear Lending program.

Red Light therapy has been used in medical, dental, and spa settings to repair tissue and relieve pain and inflammation. In recent years, red light therapy has grown in popularity with at-home self-care products for its ability to treat wrinkles, redness, acne and other signs of aging. Athletech News rounded up the best products for at-home red light therapy.

Red light therapy (RLT) uses low wavelength red light to reportedly improve the skin’s appearance and treat other medical conditions. Red light therapy is believed to work by activating the body’s mitochondria. By increasing their energy, cells can work more efficiently and effectively, boosting new cell growth and enhancing skin rejuvenation. Cells absorb the light wavelengths and are stimulated to work. In skin health, RLT may work to stimulate collagen production, fibroblast production, and blood circulation. It may also reduce inflammation in cells. While many RLT studies are in progress to determine its scientific effectiveness, most researchers say that preliminary results look promising. Consumers are excited by the new at-home offerings in RLT, which tout the same benefits as the more expensive spa treatments. Athletech News rounded up the best red light therapy products for skin care.

Best for Red Light On-the-Go: HigherDOSE’s Red Light Face Mask

HigherDOSE Red Light Therapy product

HigherDOSE, a popular at-home wellness tools company, launched a Red Light Face Mask in December 2021. A light therapy device that combines red and near-infrared LED technologies, the HigherDOSE Red Light Face Mask treats the skin and provides a calming, spa-like experience at home. The mask is high-intensity but portable. It’s chargeable, so one can do tasks around the house and even work while using it, provided one can see through the emitting light. After usage, one’s skin is noticeably glowing. For pure, high-intensity red light therapy, HigherDOSE’s mask is a relatively affordable and extremely effective tool.

Best for Budget: SolaWave’s Advanced Skincare Wand with Red Light Therapy

Sola Wave red light therapy product

SolaWave’s Advanced Skincare Wand with Red Light Therapy is a tool that combines microcurrent, therapeutic warmth, red light therapy, and facial massage. At around half the price of HigherDOSE’s Red Light Face, it’s the most affordable choice. With 5 LEDs installed in the center bar, once the Wand is placed on one’s skin, its heat and vibration is activated. The process of using the Wand is relaxing, but it involves more involvement than a mere mask. However, it can be used in conjunction with topical skincare products, to aid with skin absorption. For such a small product, the Wand is powerful. The heat is strong, and one’s skin responds quickly to the product’s light, heat, and vibration. For a small, affordable product that packs a red light therapy punch, SolaWave’s Wand is the best option.

Best for Add-Ons: Therabody’s TheraFace PRO

TheraFace Pro red light therapy device

Therabody’s TheraFace PRO is an all-in-one facial health tool that really can do it all. Red light is just one tool in its toolbox, which also includes percussive facial attachments, a microcurrent ring, a cleansing ring, and optional add-ons of hot and cold rings. Unlike the other tools, TheraFace offers both red light and a red + infrared light option. For users who may not always want heat paired with red light, TheraFace provides both options. Theraface’s customizability is also unique among at-home red light options. Not only can users pair the two red light options with three percussion attachments (flat, micro-point, and cone) to maximize skin circulation and tension relief, they can integrate red light into other skincare routines. Therabody provides a TheraFace “How To” video series that shows users how best to integrate each attachment into their larger routines based on individual goals. For a one-stop-shop for skin care, TheraFace PRO’s customizability of its red light therapy offerings is unparalleled.
